Origin & Production:
Produced in the renowned Stellenbosch wine region, this Hazendal Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the depth and structure typical of the varietal. Grapes are meticulously hand-picked and destemmed before fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Extended skin contact during fermentation ensures optimal colour extraction, tannin structure, and flavour concentration. The wine is then aged in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels for 14–18 months, allowing the integration of oak spice with the bold fruit profile.
Tasting Notes:
Aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and plum dominate the nose, enhanced by subtle hints of cedar, tobacco leaf, and vanilla from oak maturation. The palate is full-bodied yet balanced, delivering layers of ripe black fruits, cassis, and dark chocolate, supported by fine-grained tannins. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of spice and mocha.
Serving Suggestion:
Best enjoyed at 16–18°C. Pair with grilled ribeye steak, slow-braised lamb shanks, or roasted game meats. Its robust character also complements aged cheddar or gouda cheese. Decanting for 30 minutes before serving will unlock its full complexity.
