Origin & Production:
Assembled from classic Bordeaux and Rhône varieties grown on well-drained slopes, this Stellenbosch red is vinified for purity and poise. After destemming and a gentle crush, fermentations proceed at controlled temperatures with regular pump-overs to extract color and supple tannins. A portion of the blend matures in French oak to layer in cedar, cocoa, and baking spice. The final cuvée is chosen for harmony rather than sheer power, delivering structure wrapped in polished fruit.
Tasting Notes:
The bouquet offers blackcurrant, black cherry, and ripe plum interwoven with graphite, cocoa nib, and bay leaf. The palate is medium to full in weight. Cassis and dark berries lead, framed by fine tannins and a cool mineral edge. Subtle notes of cedar and espresso arrive mid-palate. The finish is long and composed with a gentle spice echo.
Serving Suggestion:
Serve at 16–18 °C and decant 20 minutes. Excellent with grilled lamb chops, pepper-crusted beef, mushroom ragù, or hard cheeses. The wine’s balance makes it versatile for both weekday meals and weekend roasts.
